Nominations for Atlantic Cape Distinguished Alumni Due Feb. 1

Atlantic Cape Community College’s Alumni Association Advisory Committee is now accepting nominations for the 2019 President’s Distinguished Alumni Award. The award recognizes Atlantic Cape graduates who have distinguished themselves through professional, personal, public or community-based accomplishments.

This prestigious award demonstrates Atlantic Cape’s dedication to strengthening its alumni relations. Visit atlantic.edu/alumni to nominate an Atlantic Cape graduate for this honor by Friday, Feb. 1. Nominations received after the deadline will be considered with next year’s group of nominees.

To recognize the Atlantic Cape Foundation’s 40th Anniversary, the Alumni Advisory Committee will select four recipients for the 2019 award; one each from the late-1960’s/1970’s, 1980’s, 1990’s, and 2000’s. The Alumni Advisory Committee will additionally select four nominees under the age of 40 that represent our finest rising stars. New for this year, the Top Four Under 40 category serves to recognize young alumni that are excelling in their professions, contributing to their communities, and demonstrating a commitment to Atlantic Cape’s mission and values. The committee will present these recipients to the college president for approval.

Recipients of the President’s Distinguished Alumni Award are honored during a special dinner hosted by Careme’s Restaurant on the Mays Landing Campus. Recipients will also be recognized at the college’s commencement ceremony on Thursday, May 23, 2019.

Atlantic Cape Community College 2018 President’s Distinguished Alumni Recipients Honored

The Atlantic Cape Community College Foundation honored two 2018 recipients of the President’s Distinguished Alumni Award on April 19 at Careme’s Restaurant located in the Academy of Culinary Arts.

Established in 2010, The President’s Distinguished Alumni Award has been presented annually to graduates of Atlantic Cape that have differentiated themselves through professional, public, or community-based accomplishments. The new 2018 honorees truly represent Atlantic Cape’s mission and serve as exemplary role models for our current and future students.

Distinguished alumni recipients along with their family members enjoyed a three-course meal prepared by the culinary students of the Academy of Culinary Arts and were presented with the President’s Distinguished Alumni award medallions and certificates of appreciation. Continue reading

Atlantic Cape Honors Six Recipients With President’s Distinguished Alumni Awards

Atlantic Cape Community College will confer the eighth annual President’s Distinguished Alumni Award to six recipients, at the 50th annual commencement, May 18. The Atlantic Cape Community College Foundation honored past and present recipients of this award at Careme’s Restaurant at the Academy of Culinary Arts on May 4.

Atlantic Cape Honors Probation Officer and Health Care Executive With President’s Distinguished Alumni Awards

Atlantic Cape Community College conferred the seventh annual President’s Distinguished Alumni Award to Gloryvie Reyes, a senior probation officer, and Terri Schieder, a health care executive, at the 49th annual commencement, May 19.

Reyes of Sicklerville graduated from Atlantic Cape in 2001 with associate degrees in psychology and general studies. She continued her education at Rowan University, receiving a bachelor’s in psychology. Reyes now works as a senior bilingual probation officer in adult supervision–sex offender unit at Gloucester Country Probation Department. She is a leader for the Latina-Hispanic Network, the Professional Latinas Alliance and the Hispanic Alliance of Atlantic County. Continue reading
