Time is Running Out to Register for Fall Classes at Atlantic Cape; Extended Hours Offered Aug. 15 at all Three Campuses

Worthington Atlantic City Campus, 1535 Bacharach Blvd.; and the Cape May County Campus, 341 Court House-South Dennis Road, Cape May Court House. The college is closed on Fridays through Aug. 17. Time is Running Out to Register for Atlantic Cape’s Second Summer Session

Atlantic Cape Community College is offering a variety of credit courses online and in person this summer to accommodate a range of lifestyles. Whether you’re a current student, recent high school graduate or attending a four-year college and home for the summer, you can earn credits toward your degree during Atlantic Cape’s summer sessions. Choose from courses in art, aviation, business, communication, computers, English, math, science and more. The second session runs June 25-Aug. 16 and the in-person registration deadline is June 21. Students can still register online, by fax or mail through June 24.

Atlantic Cape Community College Honors Dr. Louise Kaplan with Prestigious Title of Professor Emerita (VIDEO)

The highlight of last week’s Atlantic Cape Community College Board of Trustees meeting on March 27 was the resolution bestowing Dr. Louise Kaplan of Mays Landing with the rank of Professor Emerita. The title of Professor Emerita is a prestigious one, available only to full-time tenured professors after retirement and is recommended by a committee of college peers for exemplary service to the college and the community.

Dr. Kaplan began her distinguished teaching career at Atlantic Cape in 1968 as a part-time instructor of anthropology. She secured a full-time assistant professor position in 1969, was named associate professor in 1977 and then promoted to professor of anthropology in 1988, adding bioethics to her curriculum a few years later. Dr. Kaplan taught at Atlantic Cape for 44 years and in that time chaired the medical laboratory technology program evaluation committee, counseled students at the advisement center and served as the chairperson of the Presidential advisory search committee for Atlantic Cape, helping to select Mr. Ronald Bush and Dr. William Orth. Dr. Kaplan also served as a member of the AtlantiCare ethics committee. Continue reading

March 6, 5:30-7 p.m.: An open house will be held at 5:30 p.m. on March 6 at the Charles D. Worthington Atlantic City Campus. Attendants will learn about career training programs and degree options offered at the college, meet faculty, speak with college staff about the enrollment process and more. Academy of Culinary Arts Announces Spring Open House Dates

The Academy of Culinary Arts at Atlantic Cape Community College will host several open houses this spring for prospective students who love to cook and are interested in starting a career in the culinary field.

The open houses are planned for 5:30-7 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 25; 10 a.m.-noon, Monday, Feb. 19; 5:30-7 p.m., Wednesday, March 21; 1-3 p.m. at the college-wide open house, Sunday, April 8; and 5:30-7 p.m., Wednesday, May 9, at the Mays Landing Campus, 5100 Black Horse Pike, M Building. Culinary Students Prepare ‘Breakfast with Santa’ Dec. 2 at Hamilton Mall

ACA Breakfast with Santa

The Academy of Culinary Arts at Atlantic Cape Community College will sponsor “Breakfast with Santa” at the Hamilton Mall in Mays Landing. The event is planned for Saturday, Dec. 2, in the mall food court.

The chefs and students at the Academy will prepare pancakes, bacon, sausage, muffins and Danish. In addition to meeting Santa, children can enjoy a visit from Mrs. Claus and other favorite holiday characters. Continue reading

The restaurant offers an a la carte lunch menu with items including Tomato Escarole Soup with White Beans, a Chef’s Soup of the Day, Tossed Garden Salad, Baby Spinach and Mushroom Salad, Roasted Chicken Shepherd’s Pie, Steak Frites, Roasted Tomato Macaroni and Cheese, Southern Fried Chicken Sliders, Pulled Pork Sandwich, Grilled Eggplant and Roasted Pepper Sandwich, Pumpkin Cheesecake, Apple Raisin Crisp and Chocolate Crème Brulee. Flu Shot Clinic at Mays Landing Campus Sept. 23

Atlantic County will host a flu shot clinic at the Mays Landing Campus from 10 a.m.-noon, Saturday, Sept. 23, in J Lobby.

Flu shots are available to residents 18 years and older for $15, cash or check only. There is no out-of-pocket fee for the flu shot for Medicare Part B recipients who present their cards.
