Atlantic Cape Accepting Students for New Paramedic Science Program; Information Sessions Being Offered During Summer, Fall

The Health Professions Institute at Atlantic Cape Community College is now accepting students for the new Paramedic Science Program that is scheduled to start in January 2019.

The program is designed with a focus on student success taught by a team of educators that are highly successful and dedicated paramedics with a wealth of knowledge and experience. Students will experience a hands-on approach in skills and scenario labs, and be provided an interactive learning environment that promotes the kind of critical thinking skills needed to excel in the classroom and in careers in paramedicine. Upon completion, students have the opportunity to advance in the ranks of prehospital care providers as Nationally Registered Paramedics. Continue reading

Atlantic Cape Offers New Emergency Medical Responder Course

The Health Professions Institute at Atlantic Cape Community College is offering a new emergency medical responder course at the college’s Atlantic City Campus this spring.

This course is designed for police, firefighters, schoolteachers or anyone with the potential to the first at the scene of a medical emergency. It will provide immediate basic lifesaving care to critical patients who access the emergency medical services system. EMRs have the knowledge and skills necessary to provide immediate lifesaving interventions while awaiting additional EMS resources to arrive. Continue reading

Learn About Atlantic Cape’s Nursing and Health Career Programs At Upcoming Information Sessions

Atlantic Cape Community College will host information sessions this fall for those interested in learning more about careers in health care and nursing.

If you wish to learn about regional training and career options and exploring employment and educations opportunities, the following Health Career Planning Sessions will take place: 5:30-7 p.m., Tuesday, Nov. 7, at the Cape May County Campus, 341 Court House-South Dennis Road, Cape May Court House, and 5:30-7 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 7 in Room J 202 of the Mays Landing Campus, 5100 Black Horse Pike.

Students interested in Atlantic Cape’s degree programs in Respiratory Therapy, Radiologic Technology, Biomedical Science, Health Services and Nursing are encouraged to attend. Continue reading

Atlantic Cape Offers New Emergency Medical Technician Program

The Health Professions Institute at Atlantic Cape Community College, in partnership with Mutual Aid Emergency Services, will provide the New Jersey Department of Health Emergency Medical Technician Course, beginning Feb. 2, at the Charles D. Worthington Atlantic City Campus, 1535 Bacharach Blvd.

The 230-hour course is open to candidates interested in obtaining the necessary skills and education to provide emergency medical care as a pre-hospital health care provider. The program will enable participants with the proper training and critical thinking skills to obtain their EMT Certification through either the State of New Jersey and/or the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMT). Certification qualifies the candidate for various volunteer and career positions throughout New Jersey as well as other states recognizing NREMT or NJ certification. EMTs are widely used in hospitals, ambulances, patient transport units, racetracks, sports stadiums, concerts and bike teams. Continue reading

Eighteen students in the Medical Assistant class offered through the Health Professions Institute at Atlantic Cape Community College graduated, Wednesday, June 8, at the Charles D. Worthington Atlantic City Campus, 1535 Bacharach Blvd. The 620-hour program trained students to perform a variety of administrative and clinical duties in the offices of physicians and other health care facilities, and included six weeks of clinical training. Health Professions Institute Offers Health Care Training for Career Changers

The Health Professions Institute at Atlantic Cape Community College offers a variety of programs to train individuals interested in starting or advancing their health care career.

Certified Home Health Aide trains you to care for patients in a home setting. The 60-hour program begins April 1.

Patient Care Technician teaches the basic patient care skills and behaviors you need to gain an entry-level position as a patient care technician, phlebotomist or EKG technician. The 440-hour program begins April 11. Continue reading

Eighteen students in the Medical Assistant Class offered through the Health Professions Institute at Atlantic Cape Community College had the opportunity to demonstrate their clinical skills to AtlantiCare representatives, Tuesday, March 8, at the Charles D. Worthington Atlantic City Campus, 1535 Bacharach Blvd. Demonstrations included reading blood pressure, phlebotomy, removal of stitches and sutures, wound care and EKG monitoring. In a month, these students will go out into the field to perform their externships, where they may find permanent employment after. Continue reading
