Restaurant Gala Raises $212,825 for Student Scholarships; 50/50 Raffle Winners Announced

The 34th annual Atlantic Cape Community College Restaurant Gala, with the help of guests, sponsors and donors, raised $212,825, and showcased 40 of the region’s top restaurants at the March 23 event. The proceeds from this event will benefit students at the Academy of Culinary Arts, an emergency fund for students and Atlantic Cape Foundation operations.

Harrah’s Waterfront Conference Center in Atlantic City hosted the annual fundraiser, which featured the theme, “Golden Gala,” celebrating the college’s 50th anniversary. The event showcased the talents of the culinary students at the Academy of Culinary Arts, who prepared thousands of sumptuous hot and cold hors d’oeuvres served during the cocktail reception.

Gala 50/50 Raffle to Benefit Atlantic Cape Scholarships; Last Chance to Win up to $15,000 in Prizes

Time is running out to be one of three lucky winners who will share up to $15,000 in the 2017 Atlantic Cape Community College Restaurant Gala 50/50 Raffle. The raffle is sponsored by the Atlantic Cape Community College Foundation, and proceeds benefit student scholarships and Atlantic Cape Foundation operations.

Only 300 tickets will be sold at $100 each. Three cash prizes will be awarded, including: $9,000, first prize; $4,500, second prize; and $1,500, third prize. Dollar amounts are based on all 300 tickets being sold. The winning tickets will be drawn at the March 23 Restaurant Gala at Harrah’s Waterfront Conference Center in Atlantic City. Winners do not need to be present to win.

Now in its 34th year, the Restaurant Gala has raised $3 million in student scholarships.

This year’s theme is the “Golden Gala,” commemorating the college’s 50th anniversary of creating educational opportunities for Atlantic and Cape May County residents. The Restaurant Gala has raised $3 million since its inception in 1984, with proceeds benefiting student scholarships at the Academy of Culinary Arts at Atlantic Cape Community College and Atlantic Cape Foundation operations.

34th Annual Restaurant Gala To Showcase Region’s Top Restaurants; Newcomers include Blue Water Grill and Valentina’s Trattoria Italiana

2016-gala-twitter-pic-2The Atlantic Cape Community College Restaurant Gala’s 34th annual dining extravaganza will feature original dishes from some of the region’s best restaurants at the March 23 event in the Avalon Ballroom of Harrah’s Waterfront Conference Center in Atlantic City.

The annual event celebrates food with tantalizing hors d’oeuvres prepared by students at the Academy of Culinary Arts and the house specialties of nearly 40 of the area’s best restaurants at a sumptuous dining experience. A dessert extravaganza, organized by Chef Michael D’Angelo, will complete the evening’s festivities, including a floating cake, chocolate stations and delectable petit fours, and so much more. Cigars and cordials are also back by popular demand. Tomfoolery Brewing Company of Hammonton, Little Water Distillery of Atlantic City, Tuckahoe Brewery of Egg Harbor Township and Ludlam Island Brewery of Ocean View are new additions to this year’s event. Barritt’s Ginger Beer and Tito’s Handmade Vodka will provide the signature drink, “The Golden Mule,” a spin off of the famous Moscow Mule. Continue reading

‘Golden Gala’ Honors Steven Brady and Celebrity Chef, ACA Graduate George Kyrtatas

The Atlantic Cape Community College Restaurant Gala will mark its 34th annual event by honoring Steven Brady, vice chairman of OceanFirst Bank, and Academy of Culinary Arts graduate and celebrity chef, George Kyrtatas, at the March 23 event at Harrah’s Waterfront Conference Center.

Brady, of Marmora, has served on the Board of Governors of the New Jersey League of Community Bankers, been a member of the Government Affairs Council and the Legislative and Regulatory Committee, and is a former member of the Philadelphia Federal Reserve Advisory Board. He is a charter member of the local 200 Club, advisory board member of the South Jersey AIDS Alliance and former member of the Board of Directors of the Greater Ocean City Chamber of Commerce, as well as many other local organizations. He holds a B.S. in accounting and business administration from Widener University and has served as an adjunct instructor at Atlantic Cape Community College. Continue reading

Atlantic Cape Community College will celebrate its 50th anniversary at its annual Restaurant Gala, Thursday, March 23, in the Avalon Ballroom of Harrah’s Waterfront Conference Center.

The annual event showcases food by serving thousands of hors d’oeuvres prepared by students from the Academy of Culinary Arts and featuring the culinary specialties of 40 of the region’s best restaurants at a progressive dining experience.

Steven Brady, vice chairman of OceanFirst Bank, will be honored at the Restaurant Gala. George Kyrtatas of Medford, co-owner and executive chef of SweetWater Bar & Grill in Cinnaminson and 1999 Academy of Culinary Arts graduate, is the 2017 Culinary Honoree for the Restaurant Gala.

Each year, nearly 1,000 food enthusiasts attend the Gala. They will have the opportunity to dance the night away with live music from Central Park The Band. Guests can also take photos in an open-air photo booth provided by The Good Vibes Booth, a South Jersey-based photo company. A dessert extravaganza, organized by Chef Michael D’Angelo, will complete the evening’s festivities, including a floating cake, chocolate stations and delectable petit fours, and so much more.
