Register to Play in Scramble ‘Fore’ Scholarships Golf Tournament; Variety of Raffle Prizes include Overnight Stays, Rounds of Golf and Gift Cards

GolfThere’s still time to register a four-person team to participate in the 2018 Atlantic Cape Community College Scramble “Fore” Scholarships golf tournament, Friday, Oct. 12, at the Cape May National Golf Club.

Registration begins at 10 a.m., followed by a scramble format, with a shotgun-start at 11:30 a.m.

Player fees, which include a complimentary gift, lunch and awards dinner, are $150 per person or $500 per foursome. Golfers can participate in a variety of skills challenges, including closest-to-the-pin and longest drive contests. Individuals and businesses can also support the event through sponsorship opportunities ranging from $150 to $5,000. Last year’s tournament raised over $40,000 for student aid and Foundation operations. Continue reading

Atlantic Cape Nursing Students Throw SimMom a Baby Shower; Donations Raised for The Women’s Center in Linwood

The Student Nurses Club at Atlantic Cape Community College invited the college community to a “baby shower” for SimMom on April 16 at the college’s Mays Landing Campus. SimMom is an advanced birthing simulator the nursing program acquired in 2015 to give students a hands-on learning experience in labor and delivery. Continue reading

Restaurant Gala Raises $214,400 for Student Scholarships; 50/50 Raffle Winners Announced

Tickets on Sale for the March 28 ‘Culinary Magic’ Atlantic Cape Community College Restaurant Gala at Harrah’s Resort

The 35th annual Atlantic Cape Community College Restaurant Gala will take place on Wednesday, March 28, in the Avalon Ballroom of Harrah’s Waterfront Conference Center in Atlantic City.

The annual event celebrates food by highlighting hors d’oeuvres prepared by students in the Academy of Culinary Arts at Atlantic Cape and showcasing the specialties of 40 of the region’s best restaurants during a progressive dining experience.

Kevin Ortzman, regional president for Caesars Entertainment (Bally’s, Caesars and Harrah’s Resort in Atlantic City) will be honored at the Restaurant Gala as the Community Honoree. The 2018 Culinary Honoree is Georgeann Leaming of Brigantine, executive chef of Gordon Ramsay Pub & Kitchen located in Caesars Atlantic City Hotel and Casino and 1999 Academy of Culinary Arts graduate. ACA Presents Pasta Dinner Fundraiser Feb. 23

pasta dinner 1The Academy of Culinary Arts is hosting a pasta dinner fundraiser, this Friday, Feb. 23, at Careme’s Restaurant.

The dinners are Pasta with Marinara Sauce for $12, and Pasta with Bolognese Sauce for $15; both include a roll, Caesar salad and dessert.

Reservations for seating can be made between 5:30-7:30 p.m.

Pick-up’s for preorders begin at 4:30 p.m., and must be ordered by Wednesday, Feb. 21.

Cash, check or credit card accepted.

Proceeds will support the Academy of Culinary Arts Overseas Experience.

Time is running out to purchase the “advance ticket” special for those interested in attending South Jersey’s premier food and beverage event, the 34th Atlantic Cape Community College Restaurant Gala. Individual tickets are available for $200 each, a $25 savings, and make great gifts for the foodie on your holiday list. Tickets must be purchased by Dec. 31. The 34th annual Atlantic Cape Community College Restaurant Gala takes place Thursday, March 23, in the Avalon Ballroom of Harrah’s Waterfront Conference Center.

Designer Cheesesteak Proceeds at Pat’s Steaks in Philadelphia to Benefit Academy of Culinary Arts Dec. 7

If you’re hungry for a delicious cheesesteak, then Dec. 7 is the day to act on that impulse and help raise scholarship money for local culinary students! The designer cheesesteak created by Lynn Hoffman will be available from noon-2 p.m., Dec. 7, at Pat’s Steaks in Philadelphia. The culinary arts degree program at Drexel University, founded by Hoffman, and the Academy of Culinary Arts at Atlantic Cape Community College will benefit from the proceeds raised.

Over the last year, Pat’s Steaks Guest Celebrity Chefs series has given the likes of Marc Vetri, Jose Garces and Michael Solomonov of Zahav, an opportunity to create a gourmet steak sandwich with proceeds going to the charity of their choice. Frank Olivieri, Pat’s owner, has come up with another surprise for December: a sandwich created by possibly the best non-celebrity chef in the city. Hoffman’s take on the famous sandwich includes blue cheese, bacon and caramelized onions. Culinary Student Association Personal Pizza Fundraiser Dec. 6

pizza pieThe ACA’s Culinary Student Association is hosting a personal pizza fundraiser on Dec. 6, with pick-up times from 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m., and 4:30-6:30 p.m., in Kitchen 3.

Cost is 8$ with a choice between traditional red or white pizzas.
