January Events at Atlantic Cape

Atlantic Cape Community College is hosting the following events during the month of January:

Jan. 8, 5:30-7 p.m.:  Free Nursing and Health Careers Information Session, 5:30-7 p.m., Tuesday, Jan. 8, in Room C3 of the Mays Landing Campus. This session includes a tour of the state-of-the-art simulation lab and covers topics including steps to enrollment, an overview of Nursing/Allied Health programs and preparing for entry exams. Jan. 26, 10 a.m.-1 p.m.: Basic Knife Skills, 10 a.m. – 1 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 26, in Kitchen 1 of the M Building on the Mays Landing Campus. Ever wonder how those TV chefs chop so quickly and evenly? In this class, students will learn the techniques used by the professionals. Hold a knife correctly and master the basic cuts. Learn chopping, dicing and a few secrets. This is a hands-on class. Jan. 31, 5-6:30 p.m.: Faculty Selects Art Show Closing Reception, 5-6:30 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 31, in The Spangler Library of the Mays Landing Campus. This exhibit will feature Atlantic Cape student work which will be juried and awards will be given. The art pieces will include drawings, paintings, mixed media, sculptures, and more. The Faculty Selects Art Show Gallery is available to view daily until January 31. For more information please call 609-625-1111, ext. 5346.

 

The Mays Landing Campus is located at 5100 Black Horse Pike in Mays Landing; the Cape May County Campus is located at 341 Court House-South Dennis Road in Cape May Court House; and the Charles D. Worthington Atlantic City Campus is located at 1535 Bacharach Blvd. in Atlantic City. The Academy of Culinary Arts is located at the college’s Mays Landing Campus.

Event Highlights Resources for ‘Starting Over’ Nov. 25

Atlantic Cape Community College will host a professional development and networking event from 2:30-4:30 p.m., Tuesday, Nov. 25, for community members and students. The event, titled Starting Over: The Power of Innovation and Self-Presentation, will feature information and resources for professional development, college programs, job and community resources for those impacted by the recent casino closings or those looking for a new career path for other reasons.

The session will feature resource and information tables beginning at 2:30 p.m. Keynote speaker Teressa Moore Griffin, a nationally known personal development coach, author and contributor to NBC and CBS, will begin at 3 p.m. In addition, donations for the Atlantic County Women’s Center Professional Clothes Closet will be accepted.

The event is organized by public relations students at Atlantic Cape under the direction of Joy Jones, assistant professor of communication.

The event, which is free and open to the community, will be held in the Walter Edge Theater, C-Building, on the Mays Landing Campus, 5100 Black Horse Pike.
