Communication Professor Named ‘Faculty of the Year’ for Record Fifth Time

The students of Atlantic Cape Community College have named Associate Professor of Communication Keith Forrest Faculty Member of the Year for the fifth time, the most in the college’s history. He resides in Collingswood with his wife, Kris, and their four children, Madeline, Elijah, Josh and Kameron. Forrest is widely published with his essays and commentaries appearing in numerous publications including The Philadelphia Inquirer. He was also a producer at E! Entertainment in Los Angeles.

Forrest is also the founder of the college’s annual Communication Awards Show, which is more similar to the Oscars than a traditional college awards program. The show is produced and staged by the college’s Communication Club. Forrest is a co-founder and adviser of the club. Continue reading

11th Annual Communication Awards to Recognize 84 Winners, Honor Dr. Joy Jones-Carmack

The eleventh annual Communication Awards will be held at 7 p.m., Friday, April 27, in the Walter Edge Theater at Atlantic Cape Community College. The Oscar-style event will feature student-produced videos and performances by five “Communication Major of the Year” nominees: David Bauder of Egg Harbor Township, Niko Berardo of Absecon, Megan Nickerson of Galloway, Nick Rollins of Egg Harbor Township and Jake Vitale of Linwood. Individual students, alumni, faculty and media professionals will be awarded for their work in the field.

In a special tribute, Dr. Joy Jones-Carmack of Egg Harbor Township, now a Stockton University business professor, will be honored for the impact she made on the Communication Program during her 11 years with Atlantic Cape Community College. Nick “NorEaster” Pittman of SNJ Today and Heather DeLuca of SOJO 104.9 will host the show. Continue reading

Tenth Annual Communication Awards April 28

The tenth Annual Communication Awards will be held at 7 p.m., Friday, April 28, in the Walter Edge Theater. The event will feature student-produced videos and performances by “Communication Major of the Year” nominees. Individual students, alumni, faculty and media professionals will be awarded for their work in the field.

Heather DeLuca of SOJO 104.9 and Nick “NorEaster” Pittman of SNJ Today will host the show, which will also feature: remarks from industry professional Gaten Matarazzo of “Stranger Things;” and remarks by Alumna of the Year Taylor Bailey ’14 (reporter at the NBC affiliate in Waterloo, Iowa).

There will be a reception preceding the show at 6 p.m. in the lobby of the theater.

Atlantic Cape Presents 80 Communication Awards

Atlantic Cape Community College hosted the eighth Annual Communication Awards ceremony Friday, May 1, at the Mays Landing Campus, featuring keynote speaker Jeff Fager, executive producer of “60 Minutes” and former chairman of CBS News.

Radio personality Heather DeLuca of SOJO 104.9-FM hosted the show. Five students competed for the 2015 Communication Major of the Year award, which went to Chris Devine of Egg Harbor Township. Taylor Henry of Wildwood was runner-up. The audience votes on who receives this award. Continue reading
