Atlantic Cape Honors Six Recipients With President’s Distinguished Alumni Awards

Atlantic Cape Community College will confer the eighth annual President’s Distinguished Alumni Award to six recipients, at the 50th annual commencement, May 18. The Atlantic Cape Community College Foundation honored past and present recipients of this award at Careme’s Restaurant at the Academy of Culinary Arts on May 4.

Established in 2010, The President’s Distinguished Alumni Award has been presented annually to graduates of Atlantic Cape that have differentiated themselves through professional, public or community-based accomplishments. The 2017 honorees and the eight past honorees truly represent Atlantic Cape’s mission and serve as exemplary role models for our current and future students. Continue reading

ACA Presents Pasta Dinner Fundraiser April 13

CSA Dinner.pngThe Academy of Culinary Arts is hosting a pasta dinner at 4:30 p.m., Thursday, April 13, in Careme’s Restaurant dining room.

Sponsored by the Culinary Student Association, the dinners are Pasta with Marinara for $10, and Pasta with Bolognaise for $12; both include a roll and Caesar salad.

Beverages additional.

Reservations and pre-orders can be made by calling Careme’s at 609-343-4940.

Diners have option to eat at Careme’s or take-out.

Cash, check or credit card accepted.

Proceeds will support student activities at the Academy of Culinary Arts.

 

Careme’s Restaurant to Host Vegan Dinners March 27 & 28

photo of green curry soupCareme’s Restaurant at Atlantic Cape Community College’s Academy of Culinary Arts will be the venue of choice for vegan fine dining in South Jersey at 6:30 p.m. on March 27 and 28. Academy of Culinary Arts students, under the instruction of Academy of Culinary Chef Educators Joseph Sheridan of Somers Point, and Linda Wohlman of Absecon, will prepare and present the meal, hosted by the American Vegan Society. The six-course menu includes green curry soup, baby beet and frisee salad, vegetable dumplings, mushroom risotto and coconut-lime cake.

Cost to attend the dinner is $36 ($26 for students and low-income guests).

Careme’s Restaurant Participates in Atlantic City Restaurant Week; New Farm-to-Table Dining Concept Highlighted

Careme’s, the student-run, gourmet restaurant at the Academy of Culinary Arts, is participating in Atlantic City Restaurant Week, beginning March 5-10. Located at Atlantic Cape Community College, 5100 Black Horse Pike, in Mays Landing, Careme’s now offers a farm-to-table dining experience that is showcased in the Restaurant Week menu. For $15.17, diners can select three items off of the a la carte lunch menu, served noon-3 p.m., Monday-Friday. The $35.17 dinner special will be available March 3-29 on weekdays beginning at 6:30 p.m.

The a la carte lunch menu includes Minestrone with Basil Pesto, Chef’s Daily Soup, Caesar Salad, Careme’s Chopped Salad, Fresh Pasta of the Day, Grilled London Broil, Pan-Seared Salmon, Chicken Milanese, Grilled Chicken Sandwich and Careme’s Burger. Careme’s, the student-run, gourmet restaurant at Atlantic Cape Community College’s Academy of Culinary Arts, is open for lunch for the spring semester.

The restaurant offers an a la carte lunch menu with items including Minestrone with Basil Pesto, Chef’s Daily Soup, Caesar Salad, Careme’s Chopped Salad, Fresh Pasta of the Day, Grilled London Broil, Pan-Seared Salmon, Chicken Milanese, Grilled Chicken Sandwich and Careme’s Burger. Desserts offered are Roasted Apple Bread Pudding, Flourless Chocolate Tart and Carrot Cake.

For groups, the restaurant offers a three-course menu featuring locally-sourced ingredients, prepared and served with care and attention to detail. The luncheon menu for groups is priced at $16.95 per person, plus tax and a service charge, which helps provide scholarships for academy students.
