Atlantic Cape Community College awarded 748 associate in arts, associate in science and associate in applied science degrees at the school’s 51ST commencement, Thursday, May 17. Lori Herndon, president and CEO of AtlantiCare, delivered the keynote address.
Dr. Barbara Gaba, president of Atlantic Cape, presented an honorary associate in science degree to keynote speaker Lori Herndon, and honored former Atlantic Cape employee Robert Benner with a posthumous associate in science degree. Professor Keith Forrest was recognized for receiving the Faculty Member of the Year award for the fifth time, and Jody Davis was honored as the recipient of the Adjunct Teaching Excellence Award. The Atlantic Cape Community College Foundation honored two 2018 recipients of the President’s Distinguished Alumni Award on April 19 at Careme’s Restaurant located in the Academy of Culinary Arts.
Established in 2010, The President’s Distinguished Alumni Award has been presented annually to graduates of Atlantic Cape that have differentiated themselves through professional, public, or community-based accomplishments. The new 2018 honorees truly represent Atlantic Cape’s mission and serve as exemplary role models for our current and future students.
Distinguished alumni recipients along with their family members enjoyed a three-course meal prepared by the culinary students of the Academy of Culinary Arts and were presented with the President’s Distinguished Alumni award medallions and certificates of appreciation. Continue reading
Lori Herndon, president and CEO of AtlantiCare, will deliver the keynote address at Atlantic Cape Community College’s commencement, 11 a.m., Thursday, May 17.
Herndon provides leadership for the more than 5,500 AtlantiCare employees and 900 physicians and providers who serve the community in five New Jersey counties. She joined AtlantiCare in 1983 as a staff nurse in AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center’s Intensive Care Unit and has served in executive roles for the system since 2007. Prior to her current role, she concurrently served as executive vice president, AtlantiCare, and president and CEO, ARMC. Her previous roles at ARMC included president and CEO; administrator, ARMC Mainland Campus; administrative director, Maternal Child Health Services; director, Total Quality Management; clinical manager, Medicine/Surgery; and director, Nurse Recruitment.
