In honor of Veteran’s Day and all who served and continue to serve, two events took place at the Mays Landing campus on November 12th. These two ceremonies are a small token of thanks from our college to those who defend the freedom of the United States every day.
The Student Activities Office and the Student Government Association presented the “We Support our Troops” Flag Raising Dedication at the Student Center Quad in the morning. According to Lisa Givens, “This flag is in honor of our service men and women and all current and past Atlantic Cape Students who have made the commitment to serve our country. We thank them for their service.” This brief ceremony included a musical performance by Robyn Berenato, Choir Director and included a flag raising by Staff Sergeant Ryan Schechter, US ARMY Recruiter and Sergeant Taylor Speirs, US Marine Corps Recruiter.
The Annual Atlantic Cape Community College Veteran’s Day Ceremony was held in the G-Lobby. Guest speakers include Dr. Barbara Gaba- President of Atlantic Cape, Dr. Ronald McArthur- First Lieutenant, U.S. Army and Professor of History at Atlantic Cape, Patrick Carney- Staff Sergeant U.S. Army and VA Outreach Specialist, Jacqueline Hinker- VA Outreach Specialist, and Student Speaker Alexis Bing, Army Specialist. The ceremony also featured an Honor Guard by the Atlantic County Sheriff’s Office and performances by Robyn Berenato, Choir Director. This Annual Veteran’s Day Ceremony was presented by the Financial Aid and Veterans Affairs Office.
