The Charles D. Worthington Atlantic City Campus celebrated Earth Day on April 17. Highlights included students being given peat pots with flower seeds made by The Cross Cultural Club, and club members Najmin Kalam and Israt Salma provided Mehndi hand-painted designs. Thanks to the club volunteers and advisers, Shirley Shields and Michael Kammer, ESL professors, for all their hard work in making the day a huge success.
Student Services provided the students with giveaways that included earth stress balls and key chains, earth recycle bookmarkers, water bottles, earth buttons, pencils with earth erasers and notebooks. Thanks to Caesar Niglio, master technician, for providing pretzels donated by the ACCCEA and Student Services work-study student Aitxa Diaz for handing out the giveaways.
Vita M. Stovall, Student Services, planned the Worthington Campus’s first pool tournament on Wednesday, April 18, that 20 students signed up to participate in. Students selected numbers to play their first-round opponent. A bracket was drafted and posted for students to see their competition. The tournament began the first week in March. Students played their rounds according to their class schedules and availability. It took three rounds to determine the final two students to face-off for the championship game. Tahseeb Bukhari, an engineering major, won first prize, an Apple IPad; and Angelo Jones, a human services major, was the runner-up receiving a Fire HD 10 tablet. It was an awesome tournament and the students enjoyed the atmosphere and the refreshments by Hannah G’s.
