Atlantic Cape Presents Comics Workshop with Marvel Comics Artist

Original comic artwork by Joe Del Beato, a former artist for Marvel Comics, who will lead a comic book illustration workshop at Atlantic Cape Community College.

Atlantic Cape Community College invites you to attend the Comic Book Illustration Workshop, sponsored by the Atlantic Cape Art Club, 12:30-1:45 p.m., Tuesday, April 18, in the cafeteria, located in C Building on the Mays Landing Campus, 5100 Black Horse Pike.

Explore the realm of comics with Joe Del Beato, a former artist for Marvel Comics and current owner of Atlantic City Comics and Graphics Arts Gallery where his original artwork is showcased. Del Beato will discuss today’s comics industry, its unique demands and tips on what students should study to break into the field. He will also lead a drawing session for the first 15 artists (of any skill level) who register for the workshop.

The gallery, located in D Building, hosts monthly exhibits of a wide variety of works, including drawings, paintings, printmaking, computer arts, ceramics, sculpture, photography, mixed media, 2-D design and crafts. Showcased artists include students, faculty and local artisans. The gallery is currently hosting “Celebrating 32,” an exhibit that marks the college’s 32nd anniversary of its Fine Arts Workshop series. Gallery hours are: 9:30 a.m. – 7 p.m., Monday through Thursday; 9:30 a.m. – 4 p.m., Friday; and 11 a.m. – 4 p.m., Saturday.
