Atlantic Cape Community College will celebrate its 50th anniversary at its annual Restaurant Gala, Thursday, March 23, in the Avalon Ballroom of Harrah’s Waterfront Conference Center in Atlantic City.
The annual event showcases food by serving thousands of hors d’oeuvres prepared by students from the Academy of Culinary Arts and featuring the culinary specialties of 40 of the region’s best restaurants at a progressive dining experience.
Steven Brady, vice chairman of OceanFirst Bank, will be honored at the Restaurant Gala. George Kyrtatas of Medford, co-owner and executive chef of SweetWater Bar & Grill in Cinnaminson and 1999 Academy of Culinary Arts graduate, is the 2017 Culinary Honoree for the Restaurant Gala.
Each year, nearly 1,000 food enthusiasts attend the Gala. They will have the opportunity to dance the night away with live music from Central Park The Band. Guests can also take photos in an open-air photo booth provided by The Good Vibes Booth, a South Jersey-based photo company. A dessert extravaganza, organized by Chef Michael D’Angelo, will complete the evening’s festivities, including a floating cake, chocolate stations and delectable petit fours, and so much more. Cigars and cordials are also back by popular demand. Tomfoolery Brewing Company of Hammonton, Little Water Distillery of Atlantic City, Tuckahoe Brewery of Egg Harbor Township and Ludlam Island Brewery of Ocean View are new additions to this year’s event. Barritt’s Ginger Beer and Tito’s Handmade Vodka will provide the signature drink, “The Golden Mule,” a spin off of the famous Moscow Mule.
This year’s theme is the “Golden Gala,” commemorating the college’s 50th anniversary of creating educational opportunities for Atlantic and Cape May County residents. The Restaurant Gala has raised $3 million since its inception in 1984, with proceeds benefiting student scholarships at the Academy of Culinary Arts at Atlantic Cape Community College and Atlantic Cape Foundation operations.
Tickets to the Gala are $225 a person and can be ordered by contacting Alicia McMackin at 609-463-4672 or email@example.com, or visiting atlantic.edu/gala.
