The Carol Burnett Show is coming to Atlantic Cape! Not the actual show, but several clever skits from selected writers of the show, who have made the original scripts available for theater groups to perform. The popular and critically acclaimed show ran from 1967-1978 on CBS.
Show times are 7 p.m. Thursday and Friday, Nov. 17 and 18; and 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 19, in the cafeteria of the Mays Landing Campus. Tickets are $5 and can be purchased at the door.
The sketches being performed are, “Went With the Wind,” the infamous parody of the movie, “Gone With the Wind,” starring Atlantic Cape faculty, Heather Boone and Holly Schulteis. “The Coffee Commercial,” a take on the popular product placement/candid camera commercials of the time, starring Atlantic Cape students, Marissa Mast and Crystal Fhaley; and “Guess What’s Coming to Dinner,” a take off the popular, “Guess Who’s Coming to Dinner,” starring Atlantic Cape students, Tyrone Thomas-Hose, and Kage Zhu.
The production is directed by the Theater Arts Guild adviser, Atlantic Cape alumni and theater adjunct, Phil Pallitto; and produced by Miriam Mast of the Speech Department.
The setup creates an atmosphere similar to what a studio audience might have experienced during taping of the original Carol Burnett Show.
