Atlantic Cape Community College will hold two information sessions this fall with one focusing on careers in allied health and the other focusing on the college’s nursing program. The Health Career Planning Session will be held 5:30-7 p.m., Monday, Nov. 21, in J Building 202; and the Nursing Program Information Session will be held 5:30-7 p.m., Tuesday, Nov. 29, in the Walter Edge Theater in C Building. These sessions are free and open to the public and will be held at the Mays Landing Campus, 5100 Black Horse Pike.
The Health Career Planning Session is designed for those considering a health career in radiologic technology, biomedical science, health services and nursing. The program is also tailored to those considering a career change, a return to school or to those currently enrolled in prerequisite courses for an allied health degree. The session will detail the educational requirements, clarify the training needed to enter or advance in health professions, review roles and responsibilities within various job titles and explore training options and alternate career routes. Shorter technical training certificates and entry-level positions will be reviewed as career advancement opportunities.
The second program, the Nursing Program Information Session, is designed for those specifically interested in pursuing a nursing career. This session will focus on the nursing profession and will review career opportunities. The program also will cover Atlantic Cape’s Associate in Applied Science degree in Nursing that prepares graduates to become registered nurses. The session will highlight the program requirements, courses, selection process and methods to prepare for the entrance exam.
