Accomplishments–Sept. 23, 2016

Michelle Washington Wilson, adjunct social sciences instructor, was a featured storyteller at the New Jersey Storytelling Festival, Sept. 18, at Grounds For Sculpture in Hamilton.

Professors Amy Shelton, Michele Leacott, Melissa Hatty and Bridget Temme-Soifer co-presented a webinar Aug. 23 hosted by the New Jersey Council of Community Colleges Center for Student Success. The reviewed Atlantic Cape’s Math Boot Camp, which was funded by two College Readiness Now grants and recognized by Gov. Chris Christie as the best developmental education intervention in the state under this grant. Click here for link to the webinar.

Atlantic Cape retiree Maureen “Kitty” Kalman received the Gerri Black Creative Writing Award for Best Creative Nonfiction for her autobiographical piece, “Red Swollen Eyes,” April 22. The accomplishment was featured in the Fall 2016 NJEA Higher Education publication.

Dr. Mitchell A. Levy,vice president, student affairs and dean of the Cape May County Campus, has been re-appointed co-editor of the NASPA professional newsletter, Synergy; been re-appointed to the Executive Board of the Stockton University Schoffer Holocaust Resource Center; and accepted an invitation to join the  New Jersey Student Affairs Affinity Group task force to address the Madison Holleran Suicide Prevention Act.
