Here’s the Scoop – Nov. 25, 2015

Janet Marler, associate dean, academic support services shared the following note:

“Thank you to all of the Atlantic Cape community who surprised me with a lovely party in the art gallery to celebrate my wedding.  I was truly touched by the thought and effort that the LAC staff put into planning a first-class event. I greatly appreciate the generous gifts; you are—as always!—wonderful and supportive colleagues.  Thank you again!”

Barbara Heard, professor of biology, recently visited the seventh-grade students at Saint Vincent de Paul School in Mays Landing to teach a lesson on genetics and DNA as an introduction to their next segment in the Life Sciences. The experience generated a lot of positive feedback and resulted in an article in their church bulletin. There are a number of upcoming STEM activities planned for Saint Vincent de Paul students through Atlantic Cape.

The STEM building is getting into the spirit of the season with a staff-decorated Christmas tree. Some of the faculty came up with very creative ideas and contributed ornaments representative of their respective fields – math, science, or technology!  It has generated some very healthy team building in the STEM department.
