Accomplishments — Oct. 23, 2015

Atlantic Cape’s College Relations Department received three Medallion awards at the annual National Council for Marketing and Public Relations district conference, Oct. 5-7, in Hershey, Pennsylvania

Those awards included:

-Silver award in the Original Photography category. This image captured Board Chairperson Maria Torres taking a “selfie” on stage with a student during the last commencement ceremony.

-Bronze award in the Radio Advertisement category. This radio ad promoted spring enrollment focusing on the cost savings of attending Atlantic Cape for the first two years of education. It was titled, “What would you do with $50,000?”

– Bronze award in the Online Marketing/Advertising category. This online campaign promoted Atlantic Cape’s  distance learning program. It was titled Atlantic Cape 100% Online Degrees.


On Friday, Oct. 16, Richard Russell, assistant professor of English; Maryann McCall, assistant professor of developmental English; and Stephanie Natale-Boianelli, assistant professor of developmental English and accelerated learning program coordinator, presented at the Two-Year College English Association Northeast Conference in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. Their presentation, “Accelerating Developmental English at Atlantic Cape: The Triad Model” (F.3), explained the triad model in detail, discussed the advantages and challenges of the model as compared to Baltimore’s original model, presented both internal and external evidence of the program’s success, and offered activities suited to the model.

After the presentation, they were greeted with a variety of positive feedback, including comments from Peter Adams, the ALP founder. Additionally, Atlantic Cape’s team was invited to write an article on the program for the Basic Writing Electronic Journal, a peer-reviewed journal sponsored by the Council on Basic Writing, and TYCA’s executive committee requested they submit their presentation to be featured as a showcase in the TYCA Tour of regional conferences website.
