A Beef and Beer for Brianna Gansert, daughter of Cheryl Garwood’s cousin, is being held 3-7 p.m., Oct. 24, at Moose Lodge #216, 3900 West End Avenue in Atlantic City. Brianna is 16, and facing her second battle with cancer and one of her surgeries is not covered. Tickets cost $20, but donations are appreciated as well. On Saturday, Sept.26, Associate Professor of English, Regina Van Epps, and Associate Professor of Social Science, Donna Marie McElroy, participated in the Board “Walk” for Recovery on the Atlantic City Boardwalk. This fundraiser was sponsored by Join Together Atlantic County Recovery Education Programs, whose mission statement reads, “Our mission is to prevent, reduce and/or delay substance use among youth of Atlantic County in a long term and sustainable manner. In addition, it is our goal to partner with youth, parents, law enforcement, community leaders and citizens of this county and empower them to bring about the changes necessary to protect our youth, our families and our future.” Donna Marie serves on the Board of this organization.
