A note from the Atlantic Cape Community College Foundation:
Dear College Community,
As you are aware, lack of finances is the No. 1 barrier to creating opportunity for students to enroll or remain in college. Currently, 77 percent of students rely on financial aid, with more than 60 percent eligible for Pell Grants. Even with this funding available, students still find it challenging to purchase books and meet their basic needs.
We have an exciting opportunity that only comes once in a lifetime to increase the number of endowments the Atlantic Cape Foundation has available to provide scholarships. We are applying for a very special Goldman Sachs Gives grant.
Literally, we can double every new endowment pledged through the Goldman Sachs Gives Community College Endowment Challenge.
If we are successful in our application, for every endowment dollar pledged, Goldman Sachs will match it DOLLAR for DOLLAR.
For example, if the minimum endowment of $15,000 is pledged, then Goldman Sachs will provide a match of $15,000. Now the endowment is $30,000, yielding approximately $1,000/year in scholarships in perpetuity.
We would like to talk to anyone or groups of people who may be able to pledge at least $15,000 in an endowment. If you or someone you know would like to discuss this opportunity, please contactMaria Kellett at ext. 3670, or Jean McAlister at ext. 4901, by Sept. 21.
We have one opportunity, and it is due Sept. 30. Please contact the Foundation today. Thank you for your support.
