Greetings from the Cape May County Campus — Aug. 20, 2015

By Lisa Apel-Gendron

The sweet sounds of construction are evident inside and outside CMCC right now. Inside, the Student Success & Career Center is clearly taking shape. Located in the space vacated by the bookstore, this center will offer a computer lab, counseling offices, ITV room for connecting CMCC students to main campus events, and plenty of career resources. Drywall is up and furniture is poised for delivery. It won’t be long!

A bent I-beam is being replaced in plenty of time for the first day of classes.

Outside, we had  a crane lifting an I-beam into place within the solar arrays. Several months ago, an errant bus came through the lot and, unfortunately, didn’t clear the solar arrays. The past two weeks,  a contractor worked to replace the bent I-beam and, returned the affected solar panels to their place. Mission accomplished!

CMCC’s New Student Orientation, held Aug. 11, was a resounding success. More than 125 students attended, along with 35 parents and significant others. It was an energetic and inquisitive group, and we look forward to getting to know them over the next semester!
Have a great weekend!
