Public Speaking Scholarship/Competition established for students

Dr. Joy Jones, assistant professor of communication, worked with Pearson Publishing over the last two years to establish a scholarship award based on a public speaking competition for students who have taken COMM 120. In order for Pearson to sponsor the award, Jones had to work with them to design a custom copy of the public speaking text, which will be available in the bookstore this fall. The public speaking competition and scholarship award will begin November 2015. Dumpster - Bookstore Renovation 2015Behind every battleship-sized construction dumpster is a transformation.  And as our recently placed dumpster indicates, a transformation at CMCC is indeed underway. The space on the first floor to the right as you enter, previously occupied by the bookstore, is in the initial stages of repurposing. Within a few months, with a little hammering, sawing and sheet rocking, this space will become the CMCC Student Success Center. Look for more photos this summer as the transformation unfolds.

FoodBank Distributing Free Food for Unemployed June 20

Did you know the Community FoodBank of New Jersey will hold a free public food distribution, 10 a.m.-noon, Saturday, June 20, at its Egg Harbor Township facility, 6735 Black Horse Pike? If you are currently receiving unemployment benefits, or if you have been unemployed sometime in the past 18 months, you are eligible to pick up free food for you and your family. Registration Underway for Fall Semester at Atlantic Cape’s Cape May County Campus

Atlantic Cape Community College is offering a variety of credit classes this fall at its Cape May County Campus, 341 Court House-South Dennis Road, in Cape May Court House. Fall semester classes begin Monday, Aug. 31.

For the first time since spring 2011, an in-person section of Creative Writing I will be offered at the Cape May County Campus, 2-4:45 p.m., Tuesdays, with Assistant Professor Richard Russell. Continue reading

Eight Named Marjorie Ward Scholarship Winners

Atlantic Cape Community College selected eight Cape May County high school students to receive Marjorie Ward Leaders Scholarships. The students will enroll in Atlantic Cape classes this fall.

The recipients from Ocean City High School include: Juliet Evans, Scott Hogan, Kelsey Kosturko, Rebecca Piotrowski, Sarah Redmond and Gabriella Wyand. Middle Township High School scholarship recipients are Matthew Fazio and Taylor Ivens. Continue reading

Bright Futures Ahead

Five members of the Cross-Cultural Club graduated May 21, including Nikita Gandhi, Monica Ledesma, Vanessa Ledesma, Giusseppe Romero and Zonaid Salam. Nikita will attend Temple University in Philadelphia in September; Monica and Vanessa will attend Rutgers University in New Brunswick; Giusseppe and Zonaid (not pictured) will attend NJIT in Newark.
