Natalie Devonish, counseling and support services, and Renée Battle, enrollment services, were recently inducted into the Atlantic City Rotary and attended its 100th anniversary celebration, Saturday, June 13, at Dante Hall, as did Dr. Peter L. Mora, Atlantic Cape president. Dr. Mora has been an Atlantic City Rotarian since 1993.
Danielle Epps, admissions, also attended as a guest, and associate professor Michael Bolicki of Ocean City Upper Township Rotary, showed his support.
Denise Coulter, professor of English, served on a panel that addressed Rowan University doctoral students about the trials and tribulations of the dissertation research and writing process, June 13. Topics included selecting and narrowing down a research topic, formulating a dissertation committee, strategies for setting up a regular writing schedule, creating a support community, coping with unexpected challenges and navigating the IRB process. Coulter, a candidate in Rowan’s Doctoral Program for Educational Leadership, is currently composing her dissertation, which focuses on “the sense-making process of adjunct faculty in the context of community college mission change.”
Tammy DeFranco, director of student services, spoke to 30 graduates and their guests at the HSE (formerly the GED) graduation at the Cape May County Technical School May 21. Encouraging students to take their next step in education and mentioning Atlantic Cape could support and guide them on their path was the highlight of the speech. Carol Fraone, admissions, was also present to provide information about Atlantic Cape. Five students have signed up since that event.
