Atlantic Cape Community College’s men’s baseball team will make Surf Stadium in Atlantic City home for the 2015 season.
The Atlantic City Council approved an agreement with the college Feb. 18 for the Atlantic Cape Buccaneers to use the stadium for its practices and home games this spring.
Practices begin this week, and the first home game will be Saturday, March 7. All games will be free and open to the public.
“Atlantic Cape Community College is excited to further our partnership with the City of Atlantic City by making the Surf Stadium home for the men’s baseball team,” said Dr. Peter L. Mora, president. “We are grateful for the generous support of Mayor Don Guardian and Atlantic City Council members. We are looking forward to an exciting season and welcome the community to come out and join the fun.”
Mayor Guardian said, “We look forward to being the home stadium for Atlantic Cape Buccaneers this year, and we wish them a successful season!”
The Bucs played five home games at the stadium in 2014.
The team plays in the National Junior College Athletic Association Region 19. Rodney Velardi is head coach and Jeff Ball, former Atlantic City Surf assistant general manager, is assistant coach.
