The Atlantic Cape Community College Foundation received a donation from South Jersey Gas customers this month for the School Counts scholarship fund to benefit Atlantic and Cape May County students who have earned the School Counts certificate.
South Jersey Gas presented a check for $5,976 to the Atlantic Cape Foundation to support the scholarship program. The funds were raised by South Jersey Gas customers in Atlantic and Cape May counties who donated $1 to the School Counts program via their monthly gas bills.
“Atlantic Cape is grateful for the efforts of South Jersey Gas customers. The School Counts program is designed to prepare high school students for the workforce and post-secondary education and to promote student achievement in New Jersey’s schools,” Dr. Peter L. Mora, Atlantic Cape president, said. To earn a School Counts certificate, students must maintain a minimum “C” average in all academic courses, an attendance and punctuality record of 95 percent and complete high school in eight consecutive semesters.
