Atlantic Cape Community College, along with AIA South Jersey, will offer a new course, “Building Information Modeling (BIM) and Legal Issues Facing New Jersey Design Professionals,” for architects, engineers, landscape architects and other design professionals, 9:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m., Feb. 24, in the new STEM Building of the Mays Landing Campus, 5100 Black Horse Pike.
The course will feature a hands-on practical application of BIM in architectural and engineering design as well as an overview of the legal issues involved in such use.
At the end of the course, participants will be able to:
- Identify the benefits of BIM-enabled process and learn how to implement BIM in practice.
- Use BIM 3-D modeling techniques and different models of collaboration across AEC disciplines.
- Recognize the legal implications of using BIM including, scope, standard of care and coordination.
- Develop risk management and practice techniques including contract preparation, copyright and digital data exchange protocols.
Cost is $199; $149 for current AIA members, which includes continental breakfast and lunch. Six CPC credits or six AIA credits will be awarded.
