Free Health Screenings for Employees Aug. 28

The college will host confidential health screenings on the Mays Landing Campus, cafeteria B, 10 a.m.-6 p.m., Thursday, Aug. 28, administered by Summit Health, in cooperation with the New Jersey State Health Benefits Program.

These screenings fulfill the requirement of the NJ Wellness incentive, which offers $100 gift cards to State Health Benefits Program members and their covered spouses, if they complete a biometric screening and online health assessment by Oct. 31. In an effort to make this easy for college employees (as well as other local public employees), we are bringing the health screenings to you.

The health screenings take approximately 15 minutes to complete, and include the following exams:

  • Cholesterol (Total Cholesterol, HDL, and Total Cholesterol/HDL ratio)
  • Blood Sugar (Glucose)
  • Blood pressure and pulse
  • Body Mass Index (BMI)

No fasting is required for the screenings. The cholesterol and diabetes screenings are conducted with a single finger-stick, which draws a small amount of blood.

The first step is to make an appointment. Please register as a new user, and create a password you will easily remember. Make sure you write the appointment time down because a confirmation email will not be sent.

Coordinate with your co-workers and supervisors when scheduling to make sure there is adequate office coverage during your appointments. The date was chosen because faculty will already be on campus for their Faculty In-Service Day. Faculty looking to schedule appointments should note that their meetings and lunch should be concluded by 1:15 p.m. Your covered spouses are also welcome to make appointments during the day.

Confidentiality is very serious. Your health screening information will not be shared with the college and it will not be shared with NJ Direct or Aetna. A consent form will be given for you to sign at the screening, explaining the confidentiality procedures.
